Il libro rappresenta il secondo volume del ciclo di Dušan Swalens dedicato alle macrofotografie. Per il primo volume, "Elementi", Swalens ha scelto - in collaborazione con Kateřina Pešatová autrice dei testi di accompagnamento - quattro raccolte di fotografie che rimandano agli elementi identificati dalla filosofia naturale quali base del nostro mondo: terra, fuoco, acqua e aria.
